                                             KINDERGARTEN

Welcome to Kindergarten!  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer relaxing with family and friends.  Now it's time to get ready for the year ahead.  Our program is an academic one that provides the opportunity for your child to develop cognitively, socially, physically and spiritually. Your active participation will increase your child's interest in learning.

Please look daily at all papers and notices that come home, display work your child is proud of.  Your child will get homework about once a week.  In Math it will be work that reinforces the concepts we are working on in school, and in Reading it will be to practice writing each letter as it is introduced, and draw a picture that corresponds with the new letter sound.

Reading to your chid daily at home is an easy way to help your child become a strong reader.  To encourage your child to read with you at home there will be an incentive here at school.  A "READ IT' frog paper will be sent home for you to list books you read with your child.  Your child will earn stickers and prizes for books read at home.

Please be sure your child's snack and lunch are nutritious and portions age appropriate.

If your child will be going home in a different way than usual I must be given a note.  If I do not receive a note they will be sent home the usual way- they can not just tell me they will be leaving in a different way.

Please send all notes in a labeled envelope.  Also, remind your child they have a note for me. Labeling all of your child's clothing and school items makes life for all so much easier!

Show and Tell is part of our daily activities, a schedule will be sent home.

Many wonderful activities have been planned for this year.  I am looking forward to working with and getting to know your child.  If you ever have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact me.

LEXIA:  Please take advantage of this program and log your child on at home.  Here at school your child uses the program each week, it helps to reinforce skills we have learned and introduces them to concepts that will be taught.  Please be sure they work on these concepts alone, some of the students are having difficulty when working independently during Technology class.
